Week 33 - Kidney Stone

Baby Charlotte is the size of a honeydew melon this week or a pineapple!

The past few days have been filled with pain and scare.  As my shower was wrapping up on Saturday I made a trip to the bathroom where I found there to be blood in my urine and my kidney area in my back was sore.  I immediately called the doctor emergency line and waited for a return call.  When the doctor called back she said it was sounding like either a UTI or a bladder infection so she called out a prescription for me and I started that immediately...she stated I would feel better in 24 hours.  Sunday, Dave and I went to the Cardinals game with Bill, Elizabeth and Marie and while at the stadium I went to the bathroom where some specs of blood were in my urine and then I felt back to normal so I thought it was over.  Monday around lunchtime I was having severe kidney pain and significant blood in my urine...called the doctors office and they said to come in right away.  Got to the doctor and now am being treated as a kidney stone.  I was given a shot of penicillin in my hip/butt area and have hydrocodone on hand just in case I need it.  If I start with a fever, vomiting or the pain gets unbearable I am to go straight to labor and delivery at the hospital where I might need surgery to put a stint in my kidney.  Hopefully that does not happen and in the mean time I just am taking Tylenol as needed and drinking a ton of water.

Baby Shower #1 - Roark/Sitze/Friends

Saturday (9/14/2013) was my first baby shower.  Elizabeth, my Mom and Denise threw/hosted a gorgeous shower at Elizabeth's house.  It was such a lovely day outside and everything turned out really lovely!  Here are quite a few pictures from the day!

We had brunch which included my favorite...gooey butter cake!

Trisha made her famous cookies which couldn't have turned out any better!

Group photo of everyone!

Instead of doing games everyone made a custom onesie for Charlotte!  I loved this!!

Then came the presents!

Trisha made a custom frame with a "C" made out of buttons!

My girlfriend Carla made me custom receiving blankets and burp cloths!

My girlfriend Julie from grade/middle/high school who now lives in Sweden handmade two blankets and shipped them to be there in time for my shower...they are gorgeous!!

My sister got me my diaper bag...my first Kate Spade!!

My parents and my grandma got us our stroller/carseat system...it's a jogger so Charlotte and I will be on the road come springtime :)

Dave showed up at the end to pack everything up and head home!  That belly is large!

All the decorations looked so great and I couldn't have asked for a better shower!

Week 32 - 8 Weeks To Go!!!

Baby Charlotte is the size of a squash this week and is weighing in around 4.5 pounds!  The inside of my belly is felling more like a punching bag lately than a quiet/cozy home for a little baby.  She has made her way up into my rib cage and just gives it her all.  The entire pregnancy she has favored my right side over my left and seems to hang out there 95% of the time.

Doctor appointment yesterday was ok.  She thinks I got food poisoning in Mexico and that was the reason for my sickness last Monday night and followed up by being sick again on Saturday night.  I lost 2.3 pounds from my 30 week to my 32 week checkup and that was with an all-inclusive trip in there to Mexico so you know something went wrong.  The doctor said she is not concerned with the weight loss but my body needs to get back on track so I am on a bland diet for a few days to try and get everything regulated.  Moral of the story...don't go out of the country for a Baby Moon.  I learned my lesson the hard way.  My body just couldn't handle it.

Baby's heartbeat was 130 and I have gained a total of 21 pounds as of now.

Charlotte's Nursery is officially complete and we are really happy with the way it all turned out!  I can't wait for my first shower this Saturday to start filling all of the little baby stuff in her drawers and closet!

Above her bed is a mirror that I bought at Home Goods...I just removed the mirror and spray painted a "C" to hang in the middle.

This is the chair that my mom and I redid (see prior blog post)

And the circles that we made (see prior blog post) are finally hung and look great!

Week 31 - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Dave and I spent part of this week on our "Baby Moon"!!  Our last chance to get away and relax before Baby Charlotte comes and changes our lives forever kind of a trip.  We stayed at RIU - Santa Fe...this was our 5th all-inclusive trip since we've been married and our 3rd time at a RIU resort...we love them!  We had a great time soaking up some sun, eating good food and just spending time together in the quiet!

I had a little episode on Monday in the middle of the night no thanks to my gallbladder/sunburn/eating weird food.  Needless to say I was in and out of the bathroom all throughout the night.  This was the first time throwing up all pregnancy long.  I seriously was thinking that a Mexican hospital was in my future...but I survived.  I still have not regained my full appetite so we will see how I am doing/weighing at my doctor appointment on Monday.

We are back to reality now and with only a couple of months to go I am starting to get some anxiety / nervousness feelings about labor and motherhood.  I just keep telling myself that I have gone through two kidney stones, ran a full marathon and three half marathons and if I can do all of those things then I can survive labor...right?  It is more of a fear of the unknown I think since I have never experienced it before.  I will just take it one day at time.

Here are some more pics from our trip:
